Lake Highlands women’s basketball extended its winning streak against Irving MacArthur to seven games with a 105-14 victory on Tuesday at home.
Lake Highlands women’s basketball won 105-14 versus Irving MacArthur on December 16, 2025 at Lake Highlands.
Since their last loss to the Cardinals in January of 2022, the Wildcats (11-8, 1-1 District 7-6A) have dominated MacArthur (9-10, 0-2). In the two teams’ first matchup this season, that trend continued.
Up 99-14, Lake Highlands’ Beatrice Elliott missed a short jumper, but rebounded her own miss and layed it in to reach the 100-point plateau and give her team an 85-point lead as the Wildcat crowd erupted.
Six unanswered points later, and Lake Highlands easily set its season-high in margin of victory with a 91-point blowout.
The Cardinals’ Dymond Wilson opened scoring with a layup after an impressive MacArthur effort secured an offensive rebound, but Brystol Steeley of the Wildcats matched with a corner 3-pointer a play later and Lake Highlands built its lead from there.
Kari Tillman showed off her skill, capping off a 12-0 run to give the Wildcats a 15-2 advantage. She caught the ball at the right elbow, made a spin move and was at the basket for an easy layup a dribble later.
Alondra Villa split a pair of free throws on the next possession to stop the bleeding, but that was the last Cardinal score of the first quarter. Lake Highlands led an 11-0 run to close the period, culminating with another layup for Tillman as the buzzer sounded.
The Wildcats were now in front by a healthy margin, 26-3.
The second presented more of the same, although Villa would score all seven of MacArthur’s points in the quarter. Despite her efforts, another buzzer-beater, this time on a short corner jumper by Evelyn Elliott, gave Lake Highlands a 59-10 halftime lead.
The Wildcats held the Cardinals scoreless in the third and Reid Ragsdale found her rhythm for Lake Highlands.
She started with a short jumper before getting into the lane and hanging in the air for a tough layup with 2:31 to go. Then, Ragsdale converted on another layup before stealing the ball and going coast-to-coast for another lay-in, plus the foul. The free throw was good and she punctuated her 11-point outburst with another short jumper to give the Wildcats a 77-10 lead after three quarters.
The fourth was a mere formality, Lake Highlands outscoring MacArthur 28-4 in the final frame.
Steeley continued her hot shooting against the Cardinals, nailing eight threes en route to a game-high 24 points.
Tillman and Ragsdale each contributed 15 points in the win and Beatrice Elliott added 14 of her own. Kate Duffield, the senior point guard, managed 11 points while setting up her teammates, playing scrappy defense and forcing turnovers throughout.
MacArthur will hit the road in search of its first district win on Friday for a matchup with Berkner (3-11, 0-2) at 7 p.m.
The Wildcats will play Hillcrest (6-11) at home on December 29th before resuming district play at Berkner on January 6th at 7 p.m.
