Famed Deep Ellum barbecue joint Pecan Lodge is partnering with American Airlines to serve meals on board certain flights.
First Class passengers flying from DFW Airport to LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport can take advantage of this, according to an American Airlines press release. In February, the meal will be a platter of brisket and smoked sausage, mac and cheese, and coleslaw. In March, chopped brisket sandwiches will be served with green beans and potato salad.
“As we celebrate American’s centennial anniversary in 2026, we’re looking forward to delighting our customers in new ways that honor unique regional tastes, beginning right here in our home state through one of the most beloved barbecue restaurants in Texas,” American Airline’s SVP of Customer Experience Design and Strategy Rhonda Crawford said in the press release. “Our customers deserve nothing but the best, and Pecan Lodge is certainly that.”
Meals will be available for pre-order starting Sunday, Jan. 11 via American Airlines’ website or app.
Justin Fourton and his wife Diane started Pecan Lodge at the Dallas Farmers Market in 2010 and have since received acclaim from Texas Monthly, Food Network, The New York Times and Travel + Leisure. The barbecue is made using techniques that Justin Fourton learned on his grandfather’s ranch in Abilene.
“We want to have people come eat and come back years later and have it be just as good,” Fourton said in a previous Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate article.
