Last year, Hockaday’s Lauren Lockhart led “CureQuest,” a team of classmates and students from neighboring high schools to host Hope Healing Cancer with Music, a one-day festival designed to raise funds and awareness to fight blood cancer diseases. This year, they’ll partner with Lake Highlands High junior Ellie Brown and Richardson High junior Hailey Tillery leading “Blood Sweat & Cures” to plan the biggest Hope Healing Cancer with Music festival yet.
Tillery’s sister is a leukemia survivor. Funds raised will go to Blood Cancer United, formerly the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The music festival will be held Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Avenue. Bands will perform from noon to 6 p.m., and doors open at 11 a.m. There will be a silent auction, games to win gift cards, a full cash bar with mimosas and Bloody Marys and more.
Performers include Charity Eden, Danny Joseph, Remy Reilly, Phantomelo and Grits. Mike Leslie, WFAA sports reporter, will serve as emcee.
