The Dallas City Council passed a resolution today in support of governance changes to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit board.
In a 13-2 vote, the council passed that the City of Dallas should hold a minimum of seven seats on the board with no less than 45% of the total voting power, according to city documents.
The DART Board of Directors prior to the vote included seven full seats and one shared seat with Cockrell Hill allocated to the City of Dallas out of the 15 board members.
The change passed amidst the current plan for six DART member cities (Plano, Irving, Addison, Farmers Branch and the Park Cities) to bring a withdrawal election to the ballot in the May 2026 elections.
