The Hospitality and Nightlife Task Force will host the first public meeting since the fall launch of the group on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
The task force formed last year in response to the increased enforcement from the City of Dallas’ Code Compliance Department in entertainment districts across the city, such as the Bishop Arts District and Deep Ellum.
Since the fall, the task force has focused on three main objectives: reviewing the music fee issue, reexamining the city’s noise ordinance, and exploring the creation of a new entertainment permit that supports innovation and flexibility.
According to city staff, the task force has been meeting weekly to develop a new entertainment license process to provide clearer expectations for businesses and operators with entertainment activities, ensure consistent enforcement and improve the quality of life for neighbors.
This week’s meeting will provide the public with an opportunity to learn about the task force’s progress and its recommendations for improving the process for entertainment and hospitality venues, while also addressing neighborhood concerns.
The public meeting will take place at Life in Deep Ellum starting at 6 p.m.
Life in Deep Ellum is located at 2803 Taylor St.
