Photographer Kent Barker’s 50 Women Over 50 opens Wednesday, March 18.
The series has a specific focus of showcasing older women who aren’t traditionally the subject of artwork. Barker’s photography in the exhibit aims to show their beauty, strength and resilience on full display.
“It’s just been interesting that it has kind of hit this chord with these women,” Barker said of the project in a September Oak Cliff Advocate article. “And I think many of them, they’ve raised a family. They’ve kind of been through a lot of things and so they’re at a point in their life where they’re kind of like ‘I’ve taken care of everybody else, you know? And I just want to do this for me.’”
The opening reception for the series will take place Saturday, March 21 at Art on Main in Old East Dallas. Registration to attend is free and available now.
Art on Main is located at 4428 Main St., Suite 200
