After three years, the wait for the Oak Cliff Target is over.

The store is celebrating the grand opening on Sunday, March 15. The location is approximately 110,000 square feet, including a Starbucks and CVS Pharmacy, and is expected to employ more than 160 team members, according to a press release.

Council members expressed their support for the new store and what it will bring to the neighborhood.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Target to Oak Cliff,” said District 1 council member Chad West. “I want to thank former council member Scott Griggs for proposing 2017 bond funds to make this project happen, thank the residents who voted for the bond, and thank Target for bringing its beloved store to our neighborhood.”

With the Target opening, along with the new Sprouts, District 1 residents now have two new grocery store options in the area that have been added in less than a year, he said.

“This new Target is very much welcome in Oak Cliff,” District 4 council member Maxie Johnson added. “Oak Cliff residents deserve to have grocery and shopping options just like you can find in other parts of this city, and this new store is an important step in the right direction.”

Target is located at 655 W. Illinois Ave.
