The University of Texas at Austin recently hooked another student — a Woodrow Wilson High School senior — with a first-dollar, full tuition scholarship.
Aaron Garcia received an Impact Scholarship, which is given to incoming “high-potential” students who are making a difference in their communities and is worth $48,000. Dallas ISD reported in its news briefing that only 100 scholars in the state get this award.
“Students are chosen to receive the award based on demonstrated leadership, proven academic success, perseverance, commitment to their schools and communities, and the information provided in their Free Application for Federal Student Aid,” according to UT’s website.
UT representatives surprised Garcia last week with a formal announcement at WWHS.
