Cliff Manor is approaching demolition day.

Early last year, the Dallas Housing Authority relocated the formerly homeless residents out of the Cliff Manor apartments. Following the relocation, demolition of the building was expected to be completed by fall 2025, according to a previous Oak Cliff Advocate article.

A spokesperson for the Dallas Housing Authority said that the property now has “an anticipated implosion happening this summer.”

Built in 1974, the Dallas Housing Authority opened the Cliff Manor complex to house longtime homeless individuals in 2010. Neighbors who opposed the plan at the time raised concerns, including that Cliff Manor is less than 200 feet from Stevens Park Elementary School and that the building’s quality is outdated.

In 2017, NBC 5 reported the building had issues with mold, mildew, bedbugs and a faulty elevator that raised concerns about residents’ safety. Since the relocation of residents in 2025, the building has remained vacant of residents, but was used for training in December 2025 in collaboration with Dallas Fire-Rescue.

According to the DHA website, the property was “being prepared for redevelopment due to aging infrastructure and the evolving needs of the surrounding community.” As of March 2026, the spokesperson confirmed that DHA is still in the “demolition planning process.”

Additionally, the spokesperson wrote that “DHA has not finalized plans for what will replace the current development.”
