If you’re looking for something festive (and kid-approved) this weekend, Lake Highlands has no shortage of Easter activities — with multiple egg hunts happening Saturday, April 4.

Spring Egg Hunt, Forest Green Branch Library
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 4, the Forest Green Branch Library will host a “Spring Egg Hunt,” offering a simple, classic way to celebrate.

The egg hunt will begin at noon, and the event is open to children ages 0 to 12. Families must bring their own baskets to participate. Attendees can also arrive early for a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny and a chance to create a craft.

Also during that time, the Lake Highlands Public Improvement District is hosting its Egg-Stravaganza — a go-to event each year for families in the area.

The event will feature three age-specific egg hunts: 11:30 a.m. (ages 3 and under), 11:50 a.m. (ages 4–6) and 12:10 p.m. (ages 7–11). Families can also meet the Easter Bunny and stick around for raffle drawings at 12:20 p.m. and 12:40 p.m. (you must be present to win). 

Beyond the hunts, guests can expect bounce houses, train rides, games and prizes, live rabbits, Kona Ice and food trucks — including hot dogs served by the Dallas Police Department and vendors hosted by Network of Ministries. 

Bunny Fun Run, Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center
Also from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center will host a Bunny Fun Run, which includes an egg hunt, bounce house, snow cones, arts and crafts and photos with the Easter Bunny. The event is free.

And if you miss Saturday, there’s more ahead: the Lake Highlands North Recreation Center will host a Preschool Playtime Egg Hunt Egg-Stravaganza on Thursday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to noon.

With several events overlapping, families may have to choose their Easter adventure — but either way, Lake Highlands is set for a full weekend of fun.
