Lake Highlands High School senior Banner Roby earned “Best of Show” accolades in the Cottonwood Art Festival’s recent Emerging Artist exhibit. Her entry will hang all month in the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts alongside works by selected other talented Richardson ISD high school students.
The Emerging Artist Program was created to recognize the talent of young local artists and offer them opportunities to participate in the Cottonwood Art Festival. The students may display and sell their work at the festival as they interact with commercially successful artists from across the state. They may also attend professional development workshops and win additional awards and scholarships.
Roby is the daughter of Leslie and Daniel Roby, both graduates of LHHS.
The Cottonwood Art Festival was founded in 1969 and has become one of the most respected and enjoyable art festivals in the country, drawing 35,000 people. Hosted by the City of Richardson on the first weekend of May and October, the event is held at Cottonwood Park, 1321 W. Beltline Road. Admission is free.
