Dating back to 1972, the nine-story hotel located at 6070 North Central Expressway (just south of SMU Boulevard) has transitioned through several incarnations over the years. Most recently known as the Beeman Hotel, after Dallas County pioneer John Beeman, it changed hands last year and announced plans for a multi-million dollar renovation and rebranding.
As of April 1, 2026, the newly-minted Hotel Mockingbird is now open under management of Dallas-based Coury Hospitality as a part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio. In addition to 296 refreshed guest rooms, the hotel debuts two on-site food and beverage venues, Verse Kitchen & Bar and the Raven cocktail lounge. In keeping with the “independent boutique” branding of its new Marriott category, the hotel’s design includes colorful murals, modern furnishings, and unique art installations.

“Hotel Mockingbird was designed to connect with the community around it,” says Paul Coury, CEO of Coury Hospitality. “Its proximity to SMU allows us to welcome a diverse mix of travelers, from visiting families and alumni to locals and business guests, while creating a destination that feels authentic to Dallas.”

Additional amenities include an indoor pool, fitness center, and meeting rooms. The hotel also offers packages in partnership with the nearby Woodhouse Spa. Hotel Mockingbird’s rates start at approximately $160 per night for single occupancy, increasing to $500 and up for larger rooms and suites.
