The Dallas Park and Recreation Department, alongside the Dallas Park and Recreation Board, will officially rename Lake Highlands North Park to Walne Park during a ceremony on April 9, 2026 at 5 p.m.
The renaming honors Joan and Alan Walne and their family for their longstanding contributions to the city. Both have placed key roles in shaping Dallas’ parks system through their leadership and service on the Park and Recreation Board.
Community members are encouraged to attend as the city celebrates the Walne family’s impact and formally unveils the park’s new identity.
The event will be held at 9344 Church Rd., Dallas, TX 75238.
