The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas recently recognized Sylvia Hargrave as Volunteer of the Year at the annual Youth of the Year Benefit.
Hargrave is the volunteer behind “Friday Fun Day” at the Oak Cliff Club, a weekly program she implemented in October to give club goers the opportunity to relax and learn in new ways from holiday parties to hands-on STEM activities.
Brian Slye, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, said Hargrave was chosen as the award recipient for her consistency, humility and heart she brings each week.
“She never says no when there’s a need, and when we thank her, she’s just as quick to say, ‘No, thank you.’ That spirit of service is exactly what this honor represents,” he said. “Sylvia shows our kids what it means to show up, to care deeply and to invest in others, and that kind of example is truly life-changing.”
