After celebrating four years in May, Restaurant Beatrice is closing.
The Cajun restaurant will serve final meals on Sunday, June 7. The decision comes while co-owner and chef Michelle Carpenter is continuing to recover from surgery to remove a brain tumor, according to D Magazine.
“I can’t do recovery and run Beatrice,” Carpenter told D Magazine. “That is the reason [it is closing]. Even though these are difficult times, it would be hard to navigate while only giving 20 percent, or anything less than 100 percent of my focus.”
Restaurant Beatrice was the first restaurant to be a Certified B Corporation and to disclose Greenhouse Gas Inventory in Texas.
In addition to Restaurant Beatrice, Carpenter owns Zen Sushi, which is located in Bishop Arts. According to D Magazine, Zen Sushi will remain open.
