The Instagrammable French bakery and cafe Maman is reportedly coming to Casa Linda Plaza.

Maman (not to be confused with fine dining restaurant Mamani in Uptown) is expected to settle into the space where Schlotzsky’s Deli used to be at 1152 N. Buckner Blvd. #124, according to a CultureMap Dallas article. The cafe is expected to open in November and start renovations this spring.

Maman is based in New York City, but there are multiple locations in the country, including at the only Texas location for now at The Plaza at Preston Center, according to Maman’s website. The word “maman” is French for “mom,” and as such, founders Benjamin Sormonte and Elisa Marshall have used the cafe to pay tribute to their mothers.

The first Maman opened in Soho in 2014. Just a few years later, its nutty chocolate-chip cookie wound up on Oprah’s Favorite Things list. Last fall, Maman swung open the doors to its 50th location — the one at The Plaza at Preston Center — and first in the Dallas area. “Bonjour, y’all!” is written on the website’s timeline under this particular milestone.

If the Preston Center menu is any indication, the Casa Linda shop may include breakfast/brunch-oriented classics, soups and salads, sandwiches and tartines, pastries and other sweets, coffee and tea, plus a kids’ menu. Basically what you’d expect a French cafe serving breakfast and lunch to have. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.
