A new “Hometown Hero” from Texas-24 is selected each week.

Do you know someone who is making a difference in our community? Texas’ 24th Congressional District Representative, Beth Van Duyne, shared a call for nominations for the “Hometown Hero” award in her latest weekly update. The award is presented to “individuals and/or organizations that have made significant and measurable contributions to preserve and/or improve their community.”

“North Texas is full of incredible people who truly make a difference,” said Van Duyne in a Facebook post announcing this program. “If someone comes to mind who is making an impact, nominate them today.”

The 24th District includes much of Preston Hollow and surrounding areas. Recent “Hometown Hero” honorees from in and around our neighborhood include Rev. Paul Rasmussen, who has served Highland Park United Methodist Church for 25 years, and Barrett Knetsch, a St. Mark’s School of Texas student and longtime fundraiser for pediatric cancer. A new nominee is selected each week, with photographs and details of their service shared online and across social media.
