Lake Highlands and Dallas Jesuit won their regional semi-final matches to advance in the state soccer playoffs. Both teams will play for regional titles this week — the Wildcats in 6A Division I (big schools) and the Rangers in DII.
LHHS shutout Odessa 2-0 Friday night in Abilene, with senior Ivan Martinez scoring the opening goal in the first half, and junior Brody Scott converting a penalty kick in the second half to extend the lead. The team will face Allen at McKinney ISD Stadium, 4201 S. Hardin, at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Fans are asked to wear all white to demonstrate support of the Cats.
Jesuit, captained by Lake Highlands neighbor Cooper McGough, beat El Paso Coronado 4-1. They will play Plano West at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Melissa ISD Stadium.
