The White Rock Boat Club invites the community to experience sailing and lake culture in an open house event from 1-6 p.m. July 5.
The event is designed to welcome newcomers to the club. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet club members, learn about sailing and kayaking opportunities, and experience the lake from the dock. Club commodore Robert Hunt said they will have informational meetings about club membership and introduction to sailing classes. Visitors with previous sailing experience can view the opportunities to use a WRBC boat or their own.
“We would like everybody to have the chance to just be on the docks, see the lake from a different perspective and see the boats that we have,” Hunt said.
WRBC is a volunteer-run boat club that has operated since 1961. The club volunteers with For the Love of the Lake by participating in monthly lake clean-ups. Members can participate in individual boating time, race other clubs around the lake and engage in social events hosted by the club.
The open house will be located at White Rock Boat Club at 340 E. Lawther Drive.
